Thousands of makers from the Bay Area and beyond to gather at Maker Faire Bay Area in San Mateo this May 17–19
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, May 15, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Maker Faire Bay Area takes over the San Mateo County Event Center this weekend, May 17-19, with over 175,000 square feet of indoor installations and exhibits — plenty of space for attendees to enjoy immersive exhibits, hands-on workshops, and exciting new technology.
Attendees of all ages can experience a treat for the senses in the Dark Gallery, an entire building dedicated to installations and projects that come alive with the lights off. Highlights of the Dark Gallery include Myriapoda, a 32-foot mechanical, LED-laden centipede; Chappie, the Learning Robot with advanced neural net AI that can learn to see objects and expressions; and King-Pong, a super-sized take on the classic 1970s pong game with DJs and emcee entertainment.
Maker Faire attendees can witness and participate in a wide variety of content across 8 content stages, including an expanded DIY Content Creators Stage featuring hugely popular maker “influencers” on YouTube, and hundreds of interactive exhibits on topics such as robotics and AI, engineering, kinetic and fire art, microelectronics, architecture and tiny homes, space and underwater exploration, health, food, drones, handmade arts and crafts, music, and more.
This year’s Faire brings together makers from the Bay Area, Shenzhen, Paris, New Zealand, Calgary, Tokyo, Singapore and more —the greatest representation of international makers in the flagship Bay Area Faire’s 14-year history.
Maker Faire is pleased to partner with WeChat to introduce the WeChat Maker Program at Maker Faire Bay Area, which is designed to inspire creativity and innovative solutions among the global community of makers. WeChat has transformed daily life for more than a billion users by connecting people, content and services in new ways and is a powerful tool for makers to explore and build the future.
