Blue Origin Builds Global Satellite Internet Network to Rival Starlink
The company announced plans to deploy 5,408 satellites into low and medium Earth orbit, establishing a network dubbed "TeraWave," according to a statement.
"This network will service tens of thousands of enterprise, data center, and government users who require reliable connectivity for critical operations," the company said.
Blue Origin stated the interconnected satellite constellation aims to deliver worldwide internet access while transmitting data at velocities exceeding rival platforms.
The TeraWave network will deliver download and upload speeds reaching up to 6 terabits per second, with satellite deployment scheduled to commence in the final quarter of 2027, the statement confirmed.
"TeraWave provides both point-to-point connectivity and enterprise-grade internet access. It enables customers to choose throughput and physical presence in response to changes in their needs," the company added.
Diverging from Starlink, which predominantly supplies internet and phone services to individual consumers, Blue Origin's TeraWave network targets data centers, businesses, and government clients.
