Russia to Maintain Internet Restrictions for Citizens’ Safety—Kremlin
When asked about the duration of the restrictions, Peskov told reporters in Moscow, "For as long as additional measures to ensure the safety of our citizens are necessary. I think citizens can have no doubt that the main priority is ensuring security. I repeat once again, everything is in strict accordance with current legislation."
He acknowledged that the restrictions pose challenges for businesses, calling this "a different matter" and noting that it "must definitely become a topic for discussion in our relevant agencies" to minimize losses.
The measures follow a law passed by Russia’s parliament granting the Federal Security Service authority to block internet access. Citizens have reported difficulties using the internet outside homes and offices, with mobile connections functioning poorly and stable service largely limited to wi-fi.
